West Midlands Science & Innovation Audit
Following on from the Midlands Engine Science & Innovation Audit, Greater Birmingham & Solihull, Coventry & Warwickshire, and Black Country LEPs, alongside the West Midlands Combined Authority, have worked together with Birmingham Science City to produce a supplementary West Midlands report providing a more spatially fine grained, in-depth analysis of our science and innovation excellence, which considers the ecosystem factors we LEPs and the WMCA, along with innovation partners, need to address to enable us to realise the potential of our local economy.
The West Midlands Science and Innovation Audit (WMSIA) is a report for everyone involved in our innovation ecosystem. It identifies key market strengths in Next Generation Transport; Sustainable Construction; Energy Storage & Systems; and Technologies for Better Health, and our cross-cutting enabling competencies in Advanced Manufacturing; Digital Technology & Data; and Systems Integration.
The report provides ample evidence to stimulate and steer action and future investment. We strongly urge innovation stakeholders across the West Midlands to take note of the suggested next steps outlined in the documents to inform strategic decision making; and utilise these strengths and enablers as tools to address the challenges our region faces now and in the future.
