GBSLEP Growth Hub – Access to Finance Service Launch

Midlands Finance & Investment Summit

The GBSLEP Growth Hub has partnered with the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) and the British Business Bank (BBB) to host the Midlands Finance & Investment Summit 2018, a day of events to showcase how businesses across the region can access funding and support.


GBSLEP Growth Hub – Access to Finance Service Launch

When: Tuesday 20th March 2018, 10.05am-10.45am

Where: Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham, B4 7AP

The GBSLEP Growth Hub is launching its Access to Finance service, which is designed to support SMEs across any sector from start-up stage to established trading businesses. The service will focus on assisting businesses to become investment ready, by linking them to the regional professional advisor network and also to funders.

Some of the key features of this service will be:

  • Explaining technical terms and guidance throughout the whole finance raising process.
  • Delivering advice to determine the appropriate amount and structure of finance required.
  • Being able to search for and directly contact relevant finance providers from a free searchable list of 45+ finance providers, including lenders and equity providers.
  • Providing a range of support to businesses that are looking for repayable finance to support their growth.
  • Support available from West Midlands based professional advisors.

The launch event will consist of a talk from a senior LEP representative and also a presentation regarding the support available and how the professional advisor community can engage with it.

Midlands Engine Investment Fund (8-10am)

The British Business Bank and the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) in the West Midlands and East & South-East Midlands are holding a series of briefing events to raise awareness of the new £250m Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF). The Fund will provide debt and equity finance from £25,000 up to £2m for growing small businesses across the Midlands.

The Midlands Engine Investment Fund, which has been established in conjunction with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the UK Government will provide small and medium-sized businesses with increased flexibility in the types of funding available, as well as boosting investment levels in the Midlands. UKBAA Midlands Investment Summit (11am-5pm, with drinks reception until 7pm)

In addition to the launch of the Access to Finance Service Portal the UKBAA wants to put the spotlight on the fantastic growth businesses in the Birmingham and Midlands Engine region. The event will be showcasing some great examples of the region’s innovators and disruptors. The Summit  will provide an opportunity to learn about exciting opportunities for investments and growing the finance ecosystem from start-up to scale-up across the Midlands Region.
