“It’s great news to have the confirmation of Royal Assent, which after many years of planning now makes HS2 a reality.

“HS2 represents a once-in-generation opportunity to deliver growth on an unprecedented scale and sets Greater Birmingham apart as the only place in Europe with two high speed rail stations within touching distance of a major airport and at the heart of the strategic road and rail networks.

“The Midlands HS2 Growth Strategy, produced by the GBSLEP sets out how we will capitalise on this opportunity for the betterment of local people and our businesses.

“To deliver the Strategy, we launched the £1bn Curzon Investment Plan last year. The Urban Growth Company has been established for the Interchange station and will launch its plans for the Hub at UK Central later this year, and the HS2 Connectivity Package is being taken forward through the West Midlands Combined Authority. HS2

“This is our time. We have Royal Assent, the confidence of investors and the confidence of Government, an ambitious strategy and a clear investment plan. I look forward to working with partners on making it happen.”
