  • 1) Support for high growth companies and sectors
  • 2) General support for business start ups and a business development programme
  • 3) Support for innovation and exporting.

We will help businesses to access support through the new national Business Link and via successful local services such as Think Local 4 Business, Find it in Birmingham, Find it in Worcestershire and Solihull for Success. A clear focus will be to support companies in important growth sectors and capitalise on our unique supply chains.

We will bid directly to access resources for business support through funding channels such as the European Regional Development Fund and the Regional Growth Fund

Access to finance remains a major obstacle to growth, especially for smaller companies. We intend to build on successful initiatives, such as the Finance Birmingham small loans service and support the various CDFI programmes across the LEP area.

As well as targeting high growth companies, we are working to boost R&D, innovation and productivity by working with higher education partners, science parks and sectors and companies at the leading edge of technology. This will include building on and exploiting the benefits of Science City. We will help local businesses identify new locations for growth, such as the M42 corridor and the E3I belt as well as the Enterprise Zone. We will also use public procurement as a stimulus for innovation, including green products and services.
