Andrew Cleaves became Principal and chief executive of Birmingham Metropolitan College in early 2014 having previously been International development director at National Express. Prior to that Andrew was Managing Director of National Express’s coach division. After joining in August 2010, Andrew led National Express Coach to a 4% revenue growth and record profit in 2011.

Prior to his time at National Express, Andrew had been with Tube Lines since August 2000, working to improve services on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines in a £4 billion public-private sector partnership. He came to be appointed Chief Executive of Tube Lines in February 2010 after rising through senior commercial roles.
