Ashted Circus (Birmingham)

Overall value: £6.6m

Local Growth Fund: £4.07m

Lead partner: Birmingham City Council

Ashted Circus forms a key junction on A4540 Birmingham Ring Road, providing connections to industrial areas to the northeast and Birmingham city centre to the south-west. Most notably, the junction forms the key access point for Aston University, Eastside and the planned Curzon Street High Speed 2 station.

This project will create left-turn slip lanes on both Dartmouth Middleway approaches at Ashted Circus. The benefits of this will see future capacity constraints alleviated by providing an additional approach lane on these arms and also offering the benefit of removing left-turning vehicles from the roundabout, which are predicted to significantly increase in future years.

Funding for this project will be available for 2015-16 and 2016-17.
