Food technology hub (Birmingham)
Overall value: £750,000
Local Growth Fund: £340,000
Lead partner: University College Birmingham
Outputs: 60 jobs, 330 skills improved
This project will see the creation of a groundbreaking food technology and food science hub. Driven by industry, the hub will provide access to specialist facilities that will enable skills development for a growing sector with an already identified chronic skills shortage.
A collaborative partnership has already been developed and there is a core of around 15 significant large and small food companies already active in driving the skills agenda. This would increase to 40 as a core lead partnership.
Funding for this project is available in 2015/16.
