Andy Street, GBSLEP Chair, said: “The report recognises the importance of LEPs as drivers of economic growth and this shows the confidence that organisations like the GBSLEP have had to earn.

“We are working to secure greater clarity from Government about the scope and nature of the Single Local Growth Fund and, by June, we should be in a position to press ahead with more long-term planning.

“The work the GBSLEP and Lord Heseltine have done with the Greater Birmingham Project and the Single Local Growth Fund raise many points about governance arrangements going forward.

“This is a debate we welcome and we continue to work to demonstrate to Government that Local Enterprise Partnerships are the right vehicle for economic development.”
