Final chance to bid for funding from Green Bridge
Companies across the West Midlands will have one final chance to bid for funding from the Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme in January, as it was revealed the first three rounds have created 1,000 jobs.
The Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme is the result of a successful bid by the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership to the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.
Managed by Birmingham City Council, Green Bridge is available in the local enterprise partnership areas of Greater Birmingham & Solihull, Black Country, Coventry & Warwickshire, The Marches, Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent and Worcestershire.
The £20 million fund is designed to help SME supply chain companies develop, grow and diversify their businesses within the green sector in the West Midlands.
The scheme offers grant support of between £20,000 and £100,000 to companies that operate with the green sector or seeking to diversify or set up within this sector, such as renewable energy, low carbon, building technologies, manufacturing, transport and logistics.
In the first three rounds of funding, 87 bids have been approved worth £8m which have created 1,000 and safeguarded 559 jobs and - crucially - leveraged £42m of private sector investment.
The fifth and final round of Green Bridge opens on January 6 2014 and runs until January 31.
Steve Hollis, GBSLEP Deputy Chair, said: “The final round of Green Bridge provides another opportunities for businesses to apply for support through a programme which has already proven very successful.
“This fund is very much aimed at companies across the West Midlands involved in advanced engineering, aerospace, low carbon and renewable energies, electronics, building technologies and transport and logistics.
“What is different about the Green Bridge project is that it covers the entire West Midlands area so companies from Herefordshire to Warwickshire are eligible to apply.”
